Theme of the Week: Positive Thinking
Brother,
Earlier this week, we spoke about how our habitual thoughts shape our mind. The thoughts we repeat most often influence how we see ourselves and how we approach challenges.
This weekend, I invite you to try a simple positive affirmation exercise.
Take five minutes and write down three positive statements about yourself or the person you are working to become. These should reflect qualities you want to reinforce in your life.
For example:
I am resilient and capable of handling challenges.
I approach difficult situations calmly.
I am becoming mentally and physically stronger each day.
Once you have written the affirmations down, read them to yourself.
For most effective results, read them out loud. Reading affirmations out loud actually supports the brain by rewiring neural pathways that reduce stress, anxiety, and fear - all while promoting a positive mindset. Speaking affirmations activates brain regions associated with processing and reward, strengthening self-worth and reinforcing new, healthier belief patterns more effectively than silent reading.
When negative thoughts arise throughout your day, do your best to notice them, and then consciously return to your positive affirmations. Replace the negative thoughts with the statements you wrote.
At first, this may feel forced and even unnatural. That is normal. You now know that your mind is shaped by what it hears most often, especially with regards to what you say to yourself. Your job is to intentionally choose thoughts that support your resilience rather than undermine it.
Over time, this practice will begin to positively influence how you respond to stress, setbacks, and uncertainty.
This weekend, take a few minutes to transform your mindset.
Stay strong, even when you are not. It's okay, you are not alone.
With love always,
Michael Argyrides
