Athletic Performance Coaching

Path to Becoming’s Athletic Performance Coaching makes this work an intentional part of athlete development. Through one-on-one coaching, Michael helps athletes identify the patterns influencing how they prepare and compete. Together, they develop practical strategies suited to the athlete’s sport, level, and environment, then test and refine them through training and competition.

Lived Experience

Coaching that’s been on the field

Michael’s experience as a professional goalkeeper gives him a firsthand understanding of the pressure and identity demands of high-performance sport. That lived experience informs Michael’s approach without becoming a template. The coaching remains centred on the athlete and their individual experience within sport.

Over time, coaching helps athletes develop a more resilient and adaptable mindset that supports personal well-being and performance as new demands arise.

What athletes and families say

As the coach of the Toronto Marlboros AAA U11, Michael's impact on the team was very important. He made sure every athlete was mentally and emotionally prepared to be at their best and did that in a positive way. Our athletes consistently expressed how much they enjoyed their experience working with Michael. We truly wouldn't have won the GTHL without him.

We had the opportunity to work with Coach Michael through athletic performance coaching during a challenging playoff period for our 9-year-old son. He had become fearful and lost his confidence. With patience, encouragement, and the right guidance, he helped our son believe in himself again and regain his confidence on the ice. We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact Coach Michael had on our son.

As a junior hockey player, there can be a lot of pressure that comes with performance, confidence, and managing the mental side of the game. After the first month of consistent work, I already saw the value in working with Michael as an Athletic Performance Coach. His support, guidance, and approach have been extremely helpful as I continue to develop as an athlete. I'm looking forward to continuing the process with him, and I would highly recommend Michael to any athlete.

Working with Michael has been an incredible experience for our son Ryan and our family. The impact he has had on Ryan's game, particularly from a mental and performance standpoint, has been tremendous.

Michael is an exceptional mental and athletic performance coach. What really stood out to us was how relatable and approachable he was with Ryan. He has a unique ability to connect with young athletes, understand what makes them tick, and communicate with them in a way that actually resonates. Ryan genuinely enjoyed working with him and looked forward to each session.

Through Michael's coaching, Ryan has developed a much stronger mental approach to the game. He has learned how to stay focused, manage pressure, build confidence, and respond more positively when things don't go his way. We've seen a noticeable difference not only in his performance, but also in his mindset, confidence, and overall approach to hockey.

Michael also goes far beyond simply being a great coach. He is an outstanding person who genuinely cares about the athletes he works with. The relationship he built with our son was a huge part of the experience, and it was clear that he wanted Ryan to grow not only as an athlete, but as a person.

We couldn't be happier with the impact Michael has had on Ryan.
